Former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro progressed through to the second round of the Rogers Cup with a 6-4 6-0 victory over Jarkko Nieminen.
Nieminen, currently ranked number 50 in the world, competed with his Argentine opponent during the first set but was ultimately unable to deal with the 13 aces Del Potro managed to land.
Del Potro, 22, dominated the second set, not dropping a single game on his way to victory in Montreal.
The world number 19 will now face Croatian Marin Cilic on BN Court tomorrow evening.
