Victoria Azarenka ends title drought

Victoria Azarenka overcomes Angelique Kerber in the final of the Brisbane International to seal her first title since 2013.

Former world number one Victoria Azarenka has ceased her WTA Tour title drought with a 6-3 6-1 win over Angelique Kerber in the Brisbane International final.

The Belarus-born player's recent form has seen her drop down to 22 in the world rankings, but she is now expected to rise following her victory over fourth-seeded Kerber in one hour and 15 minutes.

Speaking after her first triumph since 2013, the 26-year-old said: "My dreams come true when I step on the court."

Azarenka will next be in action at the Australian Open - a Grand Slam that she won in 2012 and 2013.
