Donna Vekic claims first WTA title in Malaysia

Croatian teenager Donna Vekic has won her first WTA title thanks to a three-set victory over Dominika Cibulkova in the final of the Malaysian Open.

The 17-year-old lost the opening set 5-7 against the top seed, but she fought back to level the contest 7-5 in the second.

Vekic let slip a 5-1 lead in the decider, though she was able to eventually close out the match 7-4 in a tense tie-break.

The world number 95 had lost her two previous WTA finals in Tashkent and Birmingham respectively.
