Jo-Wilfried Tsonga sees off Jack Sock in three sets

Former Australian Open finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knocks Jack Sock out of the Madrid Open in three sets.

World number 14 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga recorded a 6-3 1-6 7-6(4) victory over Jack Sock to reach round three of the Madrid Open this afternoon.

One break of serve and just 28 minutes was all that Tsonga required to take a one-set lead on the clay.

However, his American opponent's response to falling behind was positive and he restored parity by breaking Tsonga twice to send the contest into a deciding third set.

There was little to split the pair, which saw the contest enter into a tie-break to determine the victor.

With the scores level at three points apiece, Tsonga took control of proceedings and he went on to serve out for a 7-4 triumph.

He will now take on either Tomas Berdych or Richard Gasquet for a place in the quarter-finals.
