Laura Robson sees off Roberta Vinci in Palermo

British number two Laura Robson has beaten second seed Roberta Vinci in the second round of the Italiacom Open in Palermo, Sicily.

The 6-3 7-5 victory over the world number 27 has seen the 18-year-old book her place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

The world number 113 will now face fifth seed Carla Suarez Navarro for a spot in the semi-finals.

Robson was recently beaten in the first round at Wimbledon by former French Open winner Francesca Schiavone.
