Nadal sinks Ferrer to win Mexican Open

Rafael Nadal thrashed three-time defending champion David Ferrer to win the Abierto Mexicano Telcel and continue his successful comeback.

Nadal, who was playing in his third straight final since returning from seven months out, took just 65 minutes to dispatch fellow Spaniard Ferrer - the number one seed - 6-0 6-2.

He broke in the first game of the match and Ferrer only managed to win seven points on serve in the opening set before improving slightly in the second.

Ferrer couldn't break Nadal's service, though, as the world number five dominated on his favourite clay surface and soon the seven-time French Open champion had claimed victory.
