Andy Murray beats Denis Istomin in Brisbane

Andy Murray has progressed to the semi-finals of the Brisbane International with a 6-4 7-6 victory over Denis Istomin.

The 25-year-old had struggled to overcome Australian qualifier John Millman in his opening match but he produced a more accomplished display against his Uzbekistan opponent.

The Scot comfortably wrapped up the opening set before he prevailed in a tie-break in the following set to seal his place in the last four.

He will play Japan's Kei Nishikori for a place in the final.
