Rafael Nadal sees off Lukas Rosol in Qatar

World number one Rafael Nadal reaches round two of the Qatar Open courtesy of a win over Lukas Rosol.

Rafael Nadal edged beyond Lukas Rosol courtesy of a 6-2 7-6 victory in the first round of the Qatar Open this afternoon.

When these two players last met, Rosol caused a major upset by knocking out the Spaniard at the second-round stage of Wimbledon in 2012.

However, he was unable to repeat that achievement this time around as Nadal wrapped up the first set thanks to two breaks of serve.

The second set was much more evenly contested as Rosol forced Nadal into a tie-breaker. That was also closely fought, but Nadal eventually broke, before serving out for a 9-7 success.
