Feliciano Lopez battles through to Barcelona Open third round

Feliciano Lopez saves a match point on his way to beating Marsel Ilhan in three sets to reach the Barcelona Open third round.

Feliciano Lopez has battled into the third round of the Barcelona Open with a three-set victory over Marsel Ilhan.

Fifth seed Lopez was dominant during the opening set as he powered into a 4-1 lead before closing it out 6-2 with just 24 minutes on the clock.

Ilhan, who defeated Great Britain's James Ward in the first round, fought back in the second, with two breaks seeing him take it 7-5.

Both men exchanged breaks at the start of the decider before Lopez saved a match point at 4-5 down. The final set eventually came down to a tie-break, and it was the Spaniard who came through 6-2 5-7 7-6(5) to book his place in the next round.
