David Ferrer dumped out of Nottingham Open

Top seed David Ferrer suffers a straight-sets defeat to Marcos Baghdatis in the second round of the Nottingham Open.

David Ferrer has suffered a surprise exit from the Nottingham Open after losing in straight sets to Marcos Baghdatis.

The world number seven and top seed at the East Midlands tournament had been hoping for a successful week ahead of Wimbledon, but he was outplayed by the former SW19 semi-finalist.

Baghdatis broke twice during a one-sided first set, but Ferrer improved during the second, saving two break points to take his opponent to a tie-break.

However, it was dominated by the world number 59, who ran out a 6-2 7-6 victor to move through to the last 16.
