Roger Federer beats Mikhail Youzhny in one hour to reach the final of the Gerry Weber Open in Germany.

Roger Federer advanced through to the final of the Gerry Weber Open courtesy of a 6-1 6-4 win over Mikhail Youzhny this afternoon.

The 16-time Grand Slam winner proved to be too strong for his Russian opponent during the opening set thanks largely to a string of powerful forehand strokes.

Federer eventually went on to win the set in just over 25 minutes.

Youzhny produced more of a test to Federer in the second set and even broke the Swiss player's serve.

However, Federer responded with two breaks of his own to secure his place in tomorrow's final in just one hour.

He will now compete with either Philipp Kohlschreiber or Tommy Haas for the trophy.
