British number three Naomi Broady suffers a straight-sets defeat to Madison Brengle in the opening round of the Prague Open.

British number three Naomi Broady is out of the Prague Open after she lost to Madison Brengle in the opening round.

Broady is only ranked nine places below the American in the WTA rankings but she suffered a 6-2 6-0 defeat to the world number 71.

The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the biggest servers on the tour, but she was broken five times and won just 41% of points behind her own delivery.

Heather Watson had also been due to compete in the Czech Republic but she withdrew over the weekend with a quadriceps injury.

Elsewhere, Laura Robson is competing in a WTA event in Morocco and she will begin her campaign against Ghita Benhadi on Tuesday.
