Cameron Norrie, Liam Broady, Katie Boulter make Miami Open main draw

British trio make Miami main draw

Cameron Norrie has booked his place in the main draw of the Miami Masters with a three-set victory over Patrick Kypson.

The British number three is looking to break into the world's top 100 ahead of the French Open and Wimbledon, and the left-hander has taken another step towards that target by beating the American wildcard.

Kypson claimed the opener on a tie-break, but Norrie rallied to register a 6-7 6-3 6-1 triumph to secure a spot in the main draw of a Masters Series event for the second time this month.

Compatriot Liam Broady joins Norrie in earning a spot in the first round courtesy of a 6-4 7-6 triumph over Canada's Filip Peliwo, with Broady saving a set point in the second set before prevailing 7-2 in a tie-break.

In the women's draw, Katie Boulter has made full use of her wildcard into qualifying by overcoming Carol Zhao by a 3-6 7-6 6-2 scoreline.

Boulter - the British number five - lost her opening two service games but the 21-year-old battled back to come through a second-set tie-break before dominating the final set against a player who sits 69 places above her in the world rankings.

Earlier on Tuesday, Heather Watson suffered a first-round defeat to Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia.
