Nicolas Almagro secures spot in third round of Barcelona Open

Nicolas Almagro reaches the third round of the Barcelona Open with a straight-sets win over Martin Klizen.

Nicolas Almagro has seen off Martin Klizan 7-5 7-6(4) to reach the third round of the Barcelona Open.

It was a tight affair between the competitors with games going by way of serve, but six aces and a vital break clinched the opening set for Almagro.

The sixth seed continued his dominance on the court in the second set by grabbing a break of serve, but Klizan was able to break back to keep himself in contention.

Klizan was pushed by Almagro in his service games, but he continued to stand firm until a tie-break was needed to decide the outcome of the second set.

It was a close contest, but Almagro was able to edge it 7-4 to wrap up the set and book his place into the next round.
