Federer through in straight sets

Roger Federer has booked his place in the third round of the Paris Masters following a straight-sets win over Kevin Anderson this evening.

Anderson served well at the start of the opening set, but some strong returning by the former world number one soon secured him a break, before he served out the set without facing a break point.

The South African managed to claim a break early in the second as he looked to level the match, but the fifth seed upped his game to break back.

Federer continued to get stronger as the set went on, serving four aces before clinching another break to avoid a deciding set.

The Swiss will face Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in the next round.
