Tournaments Jack Draper will miss as British number one out for season with arm injury

Tournaments Draper will miss as British number one ruled out for rest of season

British number one Jack Draper has revealed that he will miss the remainder of the 2025 season due to the arm injury that forced him to withdraw from the US Open.

The 2024 Flushing Meadows semi-finalist pulled out of his second-round match against Belgium's Zizou Bergs in New York, shortly after a battling four-set win over Federico Agustin Gomez.

Draper did not compete in any hard-court warm-up events prior to the US Open either, withdrawing from Masters competitions in Toronto and Cincinnati owing to his arm concern.

Taking to social media on Monday evening, Draper revealed that his arm injury would be serious enough to sideline him for the rest of 2025, and the 23-year-old has found it "very difficult to accept" missing the remainder of the year.

"Hi guys an update from me…Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I’ll be sitting out the rest of 2025," Draper wrote on Instagram.

"It is very difficult for me to accept as I was building some incredible momentum this year and playing some great stuff. However I’ve been through this before..and I always come back stronger as I’m so motivated to fulfil my potential as a player.

"Huge thanks to everyone who backs me to do well and supports me on my journey. Can’t wait to get back out there and give it my all. See you soon!"

Draper ends the 2025 season with an eye-catching 30-9 record in singles matches, as well as a maiden ATP 1000 honour at the Indian Wells Masters, where he thrashed Holger Rune 6-2 6-2 in the final.

Draper also progressed to the final of the Madrid Open - where he was beaten by Norway's Casper Ruud - and reached the final of the Qatar Open, suffering a three-set loss to Andrey Rublev.

However, the British number one failed to advance beyond the fourth round of a Grand Slam, making that stage at the Australian and French Opens before picking up just one win at Wimbledon and Flushing Meadows.

Which tournaments will Draper miss due to arm injury?

While the majors may be done and dusted for 2025, there are still plenty of sought-after titles on offer between now and December, most notably the ATP Tour Finals crown art the end of the season.

Ranked ninth in the race to Turin, Draper would currently be the first alternate on 2,990 points - just short of Lorenzo Musetti (3,070) in the eighth and final qualification spot - but he will no longer have the chance to force his way into this year's event.

In addition, the 23-year-old will not be able to defend his Vienna Open title - which he claimed last October by defeating Karen Khachanov in the final - or compete in Masters events at Shanghai and Paris.

The ATP 500 China Open, Japan Open and Swiss Indoors will be Draper-less too, and Great Britain's Davis Cup team will also do without the US Open semi-finalist when they face Poland in World Group 1 this weekend; Cameron Norrie, Jacob Fearnley and Arthur Fery are the nation's singles alternates.
