Rusedski: 'Murray will become world number two'

Former British number one Greg Rusedski has claimed that Andy Murray will beat David Ferrer in the final of the Miami Masters today because it is his "destiny".

Murray will overtake Roger Federer and climb to second in the ATP World Rankings if he is victorious in Florida.

"I think he is playing well enough to deserve to be the world number two," Rusedski told Sky Sports News.

"I don't think he has played his best tennis during this tournament, but he has had a sensational 12 months - winning Olympic gold and also the US Open.

"It would be a little bit of destiny for him to become world number two - and he will today."

Rusedski believes that Murray can improve even further and tips the Scot to end the season as the top-ranked player on the men's tour.

He added: "I think that is a very distinct possibility, but it will be a three-way race between him, [Rafael] Nadal and [Novak] Djokovic."

Murray has won five of his six previous hard-court matches against Ferrer.
