Laura Robson progresses in Osaka

Laura Robson has progressed to the second round of the HP Open after she defeated Eleni Daniilidou in straight sets.

The British number one saw off her Greek opponent 6-4 6-2 and she will now face either Japan's Kurumi Nara or China's Zhou Yimiao.

Robson, who is seeded for a WTA tournament for the first time, took the first set 6-4 and then raced into a 3-0 lead in the second set.

Daniilidou threatened a comeback as she nearly levelled at 3-3, but Robson held her nerve to take the set 6-2 to advance to the next round.
