Kei Nishikori withdraws from Japan's Davis Cup quarter-final

Nishikori pulls out of Davis Cup

Kei Nishikori has announced that he will play no part in Japan's Davis Cup quarter-final against the Czech Republic this weekend due to a groin injury.

The 24-year-old was forced to withdraw from his Miami Masters semi-final against Novak Djokovic with the injury last week.

According to The AP, Nishikori is unsure of how long he will be out of action for, but does not plan to undergo surgery.

If Japan win their quarter-final tie, it will be the first time that they have beaten two-time defending champions Czech Republic since 1935.
