Britain's Andy Murray says that it would be good to finish the Miami Masters with a win over David Ferrer in the final.

Andy Murray has said that it "would be nice" to finish the Miami Masters tournament with a win.

The world number three faces Spain's David Ferrer in the final later today, knowing that victory will move him above Roger Federer in the rankings.

The Scot told BBC Sport: "These events are the ones you want to play well in during the year, regardless of how you do in the Slams.

"If you want to move up the rankings, you need to do well in the Masters 1000 events and in the last couple of years I haven't done so well in them.

"At the start of my career I played very well in the Masters 1000s and not so well in the Slams. It's been the other way around so it would be nice to play a good match and finish with a win."

Murray last won a Masters 1000 event in 2011, when he defeated Ferrer in the final of the Shanghai Masters.
