Andy Murray believes that Ivan Lendl is the right man to guide him to a first Grand Slam title.

The world number four announced that the eight-time Grand Slam winner is to be his new full-time coach.

Although this is the first time Lendl has taken such a role, Murray believes that his meticulous approach holds the key to taking him to the next level.

"He has obviously got a lot of experience - I also think he has been through a lot of the same things that I have been through, so I am sure he can help me mentally with certain things," said the Scot.

"I spoke to him about a lot of the top players and how I am going to beat those players and how to see their weakness and how I can exploit them and I like that, so I am sure he will help me very tactically as well.

"He is also one of the most successful tennis players ever as well, so he has obviously a lot of knowledge and information that he can give me and pass on to me."

Murray will take part in the Brisbane International this week as a warm-up for the Australian Open, which begins on January 16.
