Monfils pulls out of China Open

A knee injury has forced Gael Monfils to pull out of the ongoing China Open.

The Frenchman, who lost in the semi-finals of the Thailand Open to Donald Young at the weekend, will also miss next week's Shanghai Masters.

The world number nine has struggled with injuries all season, the most serious of which being a wrist problem which prevented him from playing for a number of weeks.

Monfils would have been the second seed in Beijing behind compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
