Mardy Fish reveals retirement plans

Mardy Fish has confirmed that he will call time on his career after the US Open, which gets underway late next month.

The 33-year-old, who once was ranked in the world's top 10, has played just one competitive match since August 2013 because of illness.

As a result, the right-hander has decided that following the conclusion of his campaign at Flushing Meadows, it will be the right time for him to retire.

Fish never got beyond the quarter-finals of any of the four Grand Slam tournaments, but he did win the Hopman Cup alongside Serena Williams in 2008.
