Ivan Lendl is confident that Andy Murray will not suffer a new post-Australian Open slump in form this season.

Ivan Lendl has claimed that Andy Murray will not suffer a decline in form following the Australian Open for the third time.

Despite reaching the final in 2010 and 2011, Murray proceeded to suffer for the next few tournaments on the tour and was often eliminated in the opening rounds of competitions.

However, Murray's coach Lendl believes that the British number one will continue to improve despite his semi-final loss to Novak Djokovic in Melbourne.

Lendl told the official ATP website: "I did not observe any residual effects from the Australian Open other than positive ones.

"What you have to look at is how Andy lost. He played a tremendous match against Novak. He fought really hard, he showed a lot of guts, whereas last year he just got swiped off the court."

Murray is currently preparing for a quarter-final clash with Tomas Berdych at the ATP event in Dubai.
