Brit Anne Keothavong misses out on her first WTA final title.

Anne Keothavong missed out on her maiden WTA title after the British number three and doubles partner Valeria Savinykh lost in the final of the Brazil Tennis Cup.

The pairing were beaten 6-0 6-4 by top seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova.

There was a shock in the singles event as Venus Williams was beaten by world number 109 Olga Puchkova 4-6 6-4 7-5.

"I gave my best but just couldn't play consistent enough today," Williams said.

"She played so well, it was hard."
