Federer reflects on "special moment"

Roger Federer has described the 1,000th ATP Tour victory of his career as a "special moment".

The world number three reached the milestone courtesy of a 6-4 6[2]-7 6-4 win over Milos Raonic in the final of the Brisbane International earlier today.

Speaking on court in the aftermath, Federer admitted that he will "never forget this match".

"It's a special moment, no doubt about it. I've played a lot of tennis over the years, so to get to 1,000 wins tonight really means a lot to me. I'll never forget this match," said the Swiss star.

The 33-year-old celebrated becoming the third man to reach the landmark, after Jimmy Connors and Ivan Lendl, with Australian legends Rod Laver and Roy Emerson, who presented him with an award.
