ATP extend 2015 grass season

The ATP opt to extend the grass-court campaign to three weeks rather than just two.

The ATP have announced the schedule for the 2015 men's tennis season.

Among what is a 62-tournament calender, an extended three-week grass-court campaign will provide the build-up to Wimbledon.

As well as the likes of the Queen's Club in London and Halle, grass tournaments in Nottingham and Stuttgart have been added to the programme.

"The extended grass-court season, with additional Emirates ATP Rankings points at stake, is a positive step forward," said the ATP's executive chairman and president Chris Kermode.

"One of our assets as a sport is to provide for variance across playing surfaces throughout the season, so the strengthening of the grass-court season is a significant enhancement for the overall calendar.

"In particular, I would like to thank the All England Club, led by Philip Brook, for the instrumental role it has played in achieving this positive outcome."

As a result, there will be 21 days between the conclusion of the French Open and the start of Wimbledon.
