Great Britain's Andy Murray expresses his delight at his winning start to the clay court season in Monte Carlo.

Andy Murray has revealed that he was pleased with his start to the clay court season at the Monte Carlo Masters.

The world number four recorded a 6-0 6-3 victory over Serbia's Viktor Troicki earlier today.

Speaking after the match, Murray indicated that he was happy with his fitness and shot selection.

"It was a good start," Murray told Sky Sports News. "Normally it takes me a few matches to get used to the clay.

"Today I thought I moved pretty well which something that is really important to me. I used a lot of variety in my game which is important."

With the French Open coming up next month, Murray went on to admit that he now feels more comfortable on the clay surface.

"I haven't had that much time to work on things but I will have that before the French Open," he added.

"Last year was good for my confidence because I'd never played that well at Roland Garros.

"Confidence is a big thing in tennis and I came in feeling a lot more comfortable on the court than I had in previous years."

Murray reached the semi-final at Roland Garros last year.
