Jo-Wilfried Tsonga dumped out of Rogers Cup

Tsonga dumped out in Toronto

Third seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has suffered a surprise defeat in the second round of the Rogers Cup to fellow Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Tsonga, who recently won an Olympic silver medal in the men's doubles, was broken once in the first set as Chardy took it 6-4.

It was a closer affair in the second but the world number 47 edged out the tie-break 7-4.

Chardy will now play either Marcel Granollers or Florian Mayer in the next round.
