Heather Watson beaten by Carla Suarez Navarro in Rome

Heather Watson is beaten in the second round of the Italian Open by world number 10 Carla Suarez Navarro.

Heather Watson has been knocked out in the second round of the Italian Open by world number 10 Carla Suarez Navarro.

Watson's afternoon got off to a bad start when she was broken on her first service game, and it got even worse from there as Suarez Navarro broke two more times on her way to clinching the set 6-1.

The Brit had the chance to break early in the second, but Suarez Navarro held on before recording a comfortable 6-1 6-1 triumph.

Waiting for the Spaniard in round three will be Eugenie Bouchard following the Canadian's 6-3 6-4 triumph over Zarina Diyas.
