Djokovic edges past Kohlschreiber to reach quarters

Novak Djokovic survived an early scare to see off Philipp Kohlschreiber 4-6 6-2 6-1 and reach the quarter-finals of the Italian Open.

The world number two got off to a slow start, surrendering his serve twice in the first set to hand his opponent a 4-0 lead.

After clawing the set back to 4-4, the Serbian lost the next two games to go one down, but quickly found his rhythm in the second.

Djokovic won the first three games of the second set before powering into a 5-1 lead, with Kohlschreiber struggling to match him in terms of sheer power.

After closing off the second at 6-2, Djokovic was dominant in the decider, getting off to a 5-0 start before clinching it 6-1 and wrapping up the match.

The Serbian will take on world number five David Ferrer in the next round.
