Jo-Wilfried Tsonga makes light work of Christian Lindell

14th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga concedes just five games on his way to a routine win over Swedish qualifier Christian Lindell.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has eased to a straight-sets victory over Christian Lindell in the French Open first round.

The 14th seed dropped just five games against the Swedish qualifier as he powered through to the last 64 by a 6-1 6-2 6-2 scoreline.

Since returning from injury in March, Tsonga has struggled to put together a string of victories but he soon signalled his intent to make light work of Lindell by racing through the opening set.

Lindell, the world number 200, improved slightly during the second but he rarely troubled the former Roland Garros semi-finalist, who eased into a two-set lead.

The qualifier started well in the third but Tsonga soon hammered home his advantage to book his place in the second round with minimal fuss.
