Kanepi stuns Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki's hopes of winning her first Grand Slam at this year's French Open are over after she lost to Kaia Kanepi in a topsy-turvy match.

The Estonian dominated the opening set, breaking twice to claim it in 46 minutes.

Kanepi then went ahead in the second set in controversial circumstances. 30-40 up on Wozniacki's serve, the Estonian appeared to have sent a forehand return long.

However, despite the Dane's vocal and prolonged protestations, the ball was called good and Kanepi edged 2-1 ahead.

With Wozniacki visibly angered, Kanepi capitalised and broke again before going on to open up a 5-1 lead in the set.

Wozniacki composed herself just in time and stormed back into the match by winning five consecutive games before sealing the second set 7-3 in a tie-breaker.

Kanepi raced in to another 5-1 lead in the deciding set and, this time, the former world number one was unable to recover, as Kanepi eventually prevailed 6-1 6-7 6-3.

Julia Goerges or Arantxa Rus will face Kanepi in the last 16.
