Defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber applauds "fighter" Andy Murray

Philipp Kohlschreiber applauds Andy Murray's fighting qualities after their epic third round encounter at the French Open.

Beaten German Philipp Kohlschreiber has applauded Andy Murray's fighting qualities after their epic third round encounter at the French Open.

The pair's match was suspended last night when locked at 7-7 in the fifth set because of bad light in Paris and, upon resumption today, Murray won through 12-10 to reach the fourth round.

"I just tried to hang in," said Kohlschreiber, who fell short of equalling his best-ever run at Roland Garros.

"I had a very good feeling that the momentum was maybe a little bit more my side yesterday night. But overall I saw many matches from him. He's a huge fighter. He never gives up."

Murray will now face Fernando Verdasco of Spain in the last 16.
