Spain lead USA in Davis Cup

David Ferrer and Nicolas Almagro have both won their opening singles games to hand Spain a 2-0 lead against USA in the Davis Cup semi-finals.

Ferrer came back from a set down to beat Sam Querrey 4-6 6-2 6-2 6-4 to claim the opening rubber.

Almagro then followed up Ferrer's win by outlasting John Isner in five sets to win 6-4 4-6 6-4 3-6 7-5 and leave his country on the brink of a place in the final.

Both teams are missing their star names, with Spain's Rafael Nadal sidelined with a knee injury while USA's Andy Roddick retired after the US Open.
