Leon Smith: 'Great Britain have had an unbelievable run in the Davis Cup'

Great Britain captain Leon Smith says that he is "extremely proud" of his team after they missed out on a second successive Davis Cup final over the weekend.

Great Britain captain Leon Smith has acknowledged that his side have had "an unbelievable run" in the Davis Cup over the past two years.

Over the weekend, Great Britain had been hoping to move one tie away from defending the trophy which they won last November, but in a enthralling battle with Argentina, they eventually lost out 3-2 as Leonardo Mayer beat Dan Evans in the final rubber.

Despite the disappointment in Glasgow, Smith says that he is "extremely proud" of his players after their lengthy winning run was brought to an end.

He told BBC Radio 5 live: "We've had an unbelievable run in this competition over the last couple of years.

"I don't think people would have mapped that out a few years ago, what the team has achieved, so I'm extremely proud of them."

Argentina will play Croatia in the final.
