Andy Murray: 'GB need to be on top form to beat France in Davis Cup'

Andy Murray says that he and his Great Britain teammates need to be on their best form in order to beat France in the Davis Cup quarter-finals this week.

Two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray has claimed that Great Britain need to be on top form in order to beat France in the Davis Cup quarter-finals.

Murray, Jamie Ward, Dom Inglot and Jamie Murray will face the calibre of Gilles Simon, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Mahut in the showdown, which begins on Friday.

In his BBC Sport column, Murray wrote: "It's the second year running that Britain have made the World Group quarter-finals in the Davis Cup, so I think we've proved we belong at this level.

"They're all quality players [in the France team] and it will be extremely tough to beat them - everybody has to play at the top of their game if we're going to win."

Murray heads into the tournament following his semi-final defeat to Roger Federer at Wimbledon last week.
