Maria Sharapova advances in Cincinnati Masters

Maria Sharapova marched into the semi-finals of the Cincinnati Masters with a straight sets victory over Sam Stosur.

The world number seven proved too good for her Australian opponent in the first set, winning 6-3.

Sharapova, who has never lost to the tenth-seed, delivered much of the same in the second, claiming the set 6-2.

The Russian will play Vera Zvonareva in the last four.
