Andy Murray cruises into the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open with a straight-sets victory over Julien Benneteau.

Andy Murray has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open with a straight-sets win over Julien Benneteau.

The world number two broke his French counterpart twice in the opening three games en route to an emphatic 6-2 win in the opening set.

The Scot seemed to pick up where he left off, cruising into a 3-1 lead in the second set, breaking Benneteau's serve once more before closing out the game 6-2.

The Wimbledon champion could face Tomas Berdych in the last-eight stage of this year's competition, if the Czech overcomes Tommy Robredo.
