Roger Federer sees off Bernard Tomic in Cincinnati

Roger Federer will meet Mardy Fish in the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open following the world number one's victory over Bernard Tomic.

The Swiss broke the Australian youngster instantly in the opening set before going on to win it 6-2.

Federer then took the second 6-4 to advance into the last eight.

Fish had beaten Radek Stepanek for the first time in four encounters to make it through to the quarters earlier on Thursday.
