Marion Bartoli knocked out by Simona Halep

Simona Halep has dumped eighth seed Marion Bartoli out of the Cincinnati Open in the second round.

The Wimbledon champion was on course to book her place in round three after taking the first set 6-3.

However, the young Romanian evened things up by clinching the second 6-4.

The match was set up for an exciting final set, but it did not turn out that was as Halep stormed to a 6-1 victory.

The 21-year-old will face Australia's Samantha Stosur in the next round.
