Andy Murray overcomes wobble to reach Australian Open last 16

Murray into Aus Open round four

Andy Murray overcame a second-set wobble to beat Joao Sousa in the third round of the Australian Open on Saturday.

The second seed had to save an early break point in the first set but soon took control by winning four games in a row from 2-2 to claim the opener in just over half an hour.

Sousa then broke in the first game of the second set and it was an advantage that he did not yield as Murray failed to break back and the Portuguese levelled the match with a 6-3 success.

From then on Murray dominated, not offering the world number 33 a single break point in the third or fourth sets as he won both by a 6-2 scoreline on Margaret Court Arena.

It is the eighth year in a row that Murray has reached the fourth round in Melbourne and he will next face the winner of the upcoming match between two home favourites, Bernard Tomic and John Millman.

While Murray's match was being played, his father-in-law Nigel Sears was rushed to hospital after collapsing on Rod Laver Arena as he watched Ana Ivanovic play Madison Keys.

The match was delayed for around 50 minutes, but the latest reports are that Sears was conscious and talking as he made his way to hospital.
