Kromowidjojo wins 50m freestyle gold

Ranomi Kromowidjojo has won a gold medal in the women's 50m freestyle at London 2012.

The Dutch sensation lived up to her reputation as the fastest woman in water, powering through the single-length race in an Olympic record time of 24.05s.

Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus came in second to take home silver, beating bronze medal winner Marleen Veldhuis of the Netherlands to the finish.

Team GB's Fran Halsall went home empty-handed despite putting in a strong swim. She got off to a good start, but slipped into fifth and finished in 24.47s.
