Nick Matthew: 'Quick turnaround was a struggle'

Team England squash player Nick Matthew reveals that the quick turnaround from his singles win to playing in the doubles this morning was difficult for him.

Team England squash player Nick Matthew has admitted that it was a struggle for him to compete in the men's doubles just hours after winning the gold medal in the singles.

Matthew teamed up with Adrian Grant a day after beating England teammate James Willstrop to secure the Commonwealth Games title, successfully defending the medal he won in Delhi.

The duo managed to record a win in their first Pool A game as they defeated Malta's Bradley Hindle and Daniel Lewis-Zammit.

He told reporters: "I felt a bit tired this morning, I felt like I had a bit of a hangover but once I got to the venue and had a bit of physio and started to warm up, and then I fed of Adrian's energy really, he's so keen."

Matthew and Grant are in action later today against Guyana in their second Pool A match.
