Dan Rivers lauds "amazing" gold

England shooter Dan Rivers has hailed the "amazing" feeling of following his bronze medal by winning a gold at the Commonwealth Games.

The 23-year-old edged out Sanjeez Rajput and Gagan Narang with a winning score of 452.9 to claim the 50m rifle three positions event.

It was Rivers's second podium finish at the Games, having come third in Friday's 10m air rifle contest.

"I didn't think it could get much better than the bronze, but it has," he told BBC Sport. "It's an amazing feeling.

"I felt really prepared going into this. The air rifle was a surprise, but this is my strongest event. I had it in hand, I knew what I was doing and I took my chance with both hands."

Scotland's Neil Stirton was fourth, while fellow Englishman Jonathan Hammond came in fifth.
