Wales prop Gethin Jenkins: "Every game is like a cup final"

Jenkins vows to bounce back with Scotland victory

Gethin Jenkins has vowed to "put things right" this weekend as Wales look to bounce back from their opening-game disappointment against England with victory over Scotland.

The Red Dragons are still reeling from their 21-16 defeat at the Millennium Stadium last Friday, which saw them surrender a strong lead at the break to come out second best in the Welsh capital.

Wales can go a long way to putting things right on Sunday when they take on Scotland at Murrayfield, searching for an eighth successive victory over their opponents to kick-start their Six Nations campaign.

"It's been a tough few days," prop Jenkins is quoted as saying by ESPN. "I think everyone has had a bit of time so we could think about where we went wrong and what we need to do to put it right for this week.

"We need to put it to bed now and look ahead to Scotland and concentrate on getting our first win on the board. We won't know if we have sorted it out until the game at the weekend. We haven't lost to a bad team.

"England are a good team. Every time we play them it's nip and tuck and comes down to the last 10 or 15 minutes. We haven't become a bad team overnight by losing to them. It's a brutal championship. Every game is like a cup final, and we can take a bit of confidence from that. We want to put things right and get a win on the board."

Scotland also lost their opening game of the tournament, going down 15-8 to France in Paris last weekend.
