Leigh Halfpenny: 'England can't prepare for Millennium Stadium noise'

Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny believes that England's attempts to prepare for the Millennium Stadium atmosphere will not make a difference.

Wales full-back Leigh Halfpenny has claimed that England will not be able to prepare for the atmosphere which awaits them at the Millennium Stadium.

England coach Stuart Lancaster has been playing crowd noise during training sessions in an attempt to replicate the pressure his side will face in the Six Nations opener on Friday after the team admitted that it was a factor in their 30-3 defeat in the fixture two years ago.

"It's always noisy but the anthems before that game two years ago were something else. It was incredible," Halfpenny told The Mirror

"Running out at the Millennium Stadium is the best feeling in the world. It gives you a huge lift and makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. But there are times when you just can't hear a word your team-mates are saying, especially when we get close to the opposition try-line.

"You're trying to hear the calls and communicate with each other but you just have to play what's in front of you. I guess that's when it helps that we all know each other so well."

England, who are aiming for a first Six Nations triumph since 2011, will give debuts to five players in Cardiff.
