Edwards: Wales "focused" ahead of Six Nations opener

Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards has insisted that his side will head into this year's Six Nations in a "better place" than they were at 12 months ago.

The Red Dragons kick off their campaign with a home match against England at the Millennium Stadium tomorrow night, boosted by a near fully-fit squad to choose from.

That is in stark contrast to the 2014 tournament when injury issues and contract disputes hampered Wales's hopes of retaining the crown for a third year in succession.

"We're in a better place than we were this time last year," Edwards told reporters. "There was a lot going on last year coming off a Lions series.

"We also had trouble with the regions going on, so there was a lot of distractions going on last year. I just feel that we are a little bit more focused this time and obviously a lot healthier. Last time we had 18 changes in the Six Nations, hopefully now with everyone fit we can take our chance."

Wales finished last year's Six Nations tournament in third place.
