Ashley Beck will be out for six to eight weeks with an ankle ligament injury.

Ospreys have confirmed that Ashley Beck will be out for several weeks after sustaining an ankle injury last month.

The 22-year-old damaged ligaments on New Year's Eve in a Pro12 game against Newport Gwent Dragons.

Ospreys' head physiotherapist Chris Towers told the club's website: "Ashley suffered a significant ligament injury to his ankle during the New Year's Eve fixture at Rodney Parade.

"We have conducted investigations over the course of the last week to determine the full extent of the ligament damage and plan his rehabilitation effectively.

"Based on the advice received, we are currently treating this as a six-to-eight-week injury so would expect to see him back in action by the end of February."

It is likely that the injury will keep him out of Wales's opening three fixtures in this year's Six Nations.
