Team News: Shane Williams and Dan Lydiate recalled for Wales

Shane Williams and Dan Lydiate return for Wales in their World Cup quarter-final clash against Ireland.

Shane Williams and Dan Lydiate have been recalled to the Wales side for their World Cup quarter-final against Ireland on Saturday.

The pair have both shaken off injuries, while Jonathan Davies and Alun Wyn Jones are both given starting berths in the team.

With the majority of the squad back to full fitness, coach Warren Gatland has been given a welcome selection headache.

"This was a tough selection for us, probably one of the longest selection meetings we have ever had, where we went through every possible permutation available to us," said Gatland.

"It's a great position to be in when you are struggling to find a place for players in the squad and the starting line-up, instead of having to think who can make up the numbers, which has sometimes been the case."

Wales side to face Ireland: Leigh Halfpenny, George North, Jonathan Davies,
Jamie Roberts, Shane Williams, Rhys Priestland, Mike Phillips, Toby Faletau,
Sam Warburton (captain), Dan Lydiate, Alun Wyn Jones, Luke Charteris,
Adam Jones, Huw Bennett, Gethin Jenkins
Replacements: Lloyd Burns, Paul James, Bradley Davies, Ryan Jones,
Lloyd Williams, James Hook, Scott Williams
